America’s Getting an Upgrade… Finally

December 7th, 2008

Obama has a new plan to upgrade America.

Yes in the word’s of a Singaporean politician, America’s getting an upgrade.

What’s in the works?

Roads, Rails, Broadband… blah blah.

I personally think that even though some detractors think that it doesn’t create the right kind of jobs and it’s not going to be that bad. Afterall to create new stuff you need good engineers. But also a lot of low-cost labour to do the construction work. Nevertheless the spinoffs should be pretty good.

I think it’s high time for America to upgrade.

Seriously it has terrible infrastructure. For all its greatness I’d rather live in Singapore because the infrastructure here is just much better.

And the biggest push factor is how much China is investing in infrastructure. China already has fantastic infrastructure in the major cities and in a few decades it should be pretty easy to just go anywhere in China either on a rail or road network. China also has a pretty good broadband infrastructure which has given it its own Internet economy.

So yeah even though America’s down for now, we all want to see it lead the way because at the end of the day it is still the most developed country in the world. Not it only has to match up its infrastructure and make America even as there are really big discrepancies between big towns and the countryside areas. Even within big towns there are a lot of urban slums.
